Bulls Fall To Red-Hot Falcons
Bowling Green took the contest, 30-14, 30-18, 30-12 as it hit over .440 in each of the three games, capped off by a performance in the second game where it hit .607 (19-2-28). UB had some efficient hitters on Saturday as well as a pair of sophomores finished the match without committing an error. Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown/Genesee CC) finished with six kills on 12 attempts, giving her a hitting percentage of .500 on the evening. In limited attempts, Rachel Smith (Churchville, NY/Churchville) recorded kills on two of three swings. Senior Jenna Mapé (Calgary, Alberta/Father Lacombe) led UB with eight kills in the match.
Mapé joined junior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) as they each recorded a team-high six digs on the afternoon. Freshman Lauren Fensten (Centennial, CO/Smoky Hill) chipped in with four assists. Senior Brandie Clark (Medicine Hat, Alberta/Medicine Hat) led the Bulls with 22 assists and recorded UB’s only service ace on the day. The Falcons (16-2, 6-0 MAC) had two players with double-digit kills as Corrie Mills and Madeline Means each recorded 10. Chelsey Meek contributed with 12 digs and Chrissy Gothke had a match-high 37 assists. The win also served as Bowling Green’s 12th consecutive victory. The Bulls remain on the road for three straight matches next week, beginning with a match at Kent State on Thursday, Oct. 12. That match is set to begin at 7:00 pm. |
