Bulls Falter At Miami

OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped it first conference road match of the season, falling to Miami (OH), 3-0, Friday night at Millett Hall. The loss drops UB to 12-9 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.

The host RedHawks hit the ball well on the evening, finishing with a .289 hitting percentage, opposed to just .121 by Buffalo. In the end, Miami (OH) would come away with a 30-26, 30-21, 30-20 victory. Senior Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) led UB with seven kills on the evening, contributing with five digs and a service ace. The ace was one of seven for UB, who came into the match leading the conference in that category. Junior Sarah Streib (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) led the Bulls with three service aces in the contest. The junior outside hitter also finished the evening with three kills and four digs.

Leading UB, and the match, in digs was junior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) who finished with 14 on the night. Garcia also recorded two assists on the match. Senior Brandie Clark (Medicine Hat, Alberta/Medicine Hat) led UB with 26 assists.

The RedHawks (6-12, 2-3 MAC) were led by Emily Schroder who recorded 22 kills and hit a match-high .543 in the contest. Andrea Atteberry recorded 40 assists for Miami (OH).

Buffalo remains on the road as it heads to Bowling Green tomorrow for a 3:00 pm start against the Falcons.
