Bulls Fall Short Against Miami
Miami (OH) won the match 30-21, 30-25, 30-23 as it outhit UB, .293 to .213. Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) led the way for the Bulls as she recorded 10 kills on the evening. Sophomore Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) recorded eights kills, but was extremely efficient on the night as she did not record an error in 23 total attempts against the RedHawks. Fellow middle blocker, freshmen Kristin Bignell (Drayton, Ontario/Norwell District), added seven kills and five block assists. Freshmen Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) added four kills, but did have a match-high 25 assists on the evening. Schlegel, who leads the Bulls in service aces, added another two aces in the match. Defensively, UB was led by a match-high 16 digs from senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek), who also recorded two assists on the evening. Sophomore Ellen Robertson (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) added eight digs and a service ace for UB.
Miami (OH), who is 4-1 in conference play, got 11 kills from both Carli Reihman and Megan Griffin and 16 digs from Cristina Piazza. Michelle Mangia had 21 assists for the RedHawks.
The Bulls will continue MAC play tomorrow as they face MAC East foe, Bowling Green at 3:00 pm. UB will return home for two straight matches after the contest with the Falcons.
