BUFFALO, NY - Poor hitting by the Bulls and solid defense by the Huskies led to an easy 3-0 victory by visiting Northern Illinois over the University at Buffalo volleyball team this evening in Alumni Arena. Game scores were 30-19, 30-23 and 30-27. The win was the first league win of the season for the Huskies (6-10 overall, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) while the Bulls fell to 7-9 overall and 0-3 in the MAC.

Junior Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) had a strong match for the Bulls with nine kills and four blocks. Senior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) also recorded nine kills and fell just shy of a double-double with 10 digs. Freshman libero Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) had a match-high 20 digs, and junior setter Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) had 29 assists, nine digs, three blocks and two kills.

Northern Illinois was led by Tera Lobdell with 16 kills and 16 digs and Kate McCullagh with 10 kills and five blocks.

The Bulls host Ohio, the defending Mid-American Conference champion, tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm in Alumni Arena.
