BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team swept the Canisius College Golden Griffins, 3-0, to earn its fourth win of the 2000 season. Junior Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H. Glenn) led the Bulls' attack with eight kills and junior Sasha Courbat (Cedar Falls, IA/Kirkwood Community College) posted a match-high 11 total blocks, including a UB record 10 block assists, to lead Buffalo defensively. She also added six kills.

The Bulls dominated play in the first and second games, scoring easy 15-6 and 15-5 wins. The Griffs threatened in the third game, but Buffalo held on for a 15-12 win to break its two-match losing streak. Freshman Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) finished the night with five kills and a match-high eight digs, and junior Amelia Liddle (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) contributed six blocks and three kills.

Buffalo (4-9 overall, 0-2 MAC) will look for its first conference win of the season on Friday when it faces Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, MI at 7 pm. The Eagles are 2-11 overall and 1-1 in the MAC.
