Bulls Drop MAC Opener at Akron

Lindsay Matikosh leads Bulls with 10 kills and 18 digs

AKRON, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped its Mid-American Conference opener at Akron tonight, 30-19, 30-21, 31-29, snapping a season-high four-match winning streak in the process. The Bulls (8-7 overall, 0-1 MAC) were led by junior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) who recorded a match-high 18 digs and 10 kills. With the win, Akron improves to 10-3 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.

Buffalo senior Rebecca Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) also recorded 10 kills, and sophomore Kathryn Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) added 15 digs. Freshman Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) finished with 39 assists from the setter position. Akron was led by Katie Kuzior with 15 kills, and Jenn Snyder with 10 kills. Snyder’s final kill of the match gave the Zips their 31-29 win in game three.

The Bulls’ MAC home opener is on Saturday, September 28 at 3 pm against Marshall.
