Bulls Fall In First Conference Weekend The University at Buffalo volleyball team opened up Mid-American Conference play this past weekend as they dropped a pair of matches, including one to nationally-ranked Ohio. The Bulls played tough in both matches as they had opportunities to take a couple of games, but were unable to close them out. UB Volleyball To Hit Time Warner 13 The University at Buffalo volleyball team will get a chance to perform on television this week as UB’s match against Akron will be produced and aired on Time Warner 13. The match against the Zips will also be streamed live on Buffalobulls.com. Fans looking to catch the action on Time Warner 13 can do so on Sep. 29 at 3:00 pm, Sep. 30 at 2:30 pm and Oct. 1 at 8:00 pm. Aces Wild Freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) continues to leads the Bulls in service aces as she currently has 27 on the season, which is 14 more than the next highest on the team. Schlegel had four service aces against Kent State, including back-to-back aces on the first two points of the match. Schlegel also leads the team with 514 assists and her 137 digs are second on the squad. The freshman setter is also fourth on the team in total blocks with 27.
Team Leaders Hail From Rocky Mountains The Bulls have five players on their 2007 roster from Colorado and many of them are amongst the team leaders in 2007. Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) leads the team with 120 kills, while freshman Marisa Hornbaker (Colorado Springs, CO/Colorado Springs Christian) is second on the team with 117 kills. Sophomore Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) is the Bulls leading blocker with 52 total blocks, including eight solos. Sophomore Lauren Fensten (Centennial, CO/Smoky Hill) has spent time as a defensive specialist for the Bulls and freshman Richelle Bigelow (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) has missed much of the season due to injury. While the UB roster is made up of seven New Yorkers, Colorado’s five players are second on the team. Up Next
