KALAMAZOO, MI - The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped its Mid-American Conference opener at Western Michigan tonight by a 3-1 margin. Game scores were 30-17, 26-30, 30-22 and 30-22. With the loss, the Bulls' record moves to 7-7 overall, 0-1 in the MAC. Western Michigan improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Senior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led Buffalo with a team-high 15 kills while also adding nine digs and two blocks. Junior Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and sophomore Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) each added seven kills and two blocks, and junior setter Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) recorded a double-double with 37 assists, a team-high 10 digs, two blocks and two kills.

Western Michigan was led by Ashley Schatzle with a match-high 20 kills and Kristy Ramsey with 16 kills. Jessica Holly had 56 assists and 10 digs, and Katy Duffy had a match-high 15 digs.

The Bulls play at Eastern Michigan on Saturday at 1 pm.
