Bulls Fall To Kent State, 3-0
Kent State won the match 30-22, 30-17, 30-17 as they hit .374 for the match, opposed to .138 for the Bulls. Marisa Hornbaker (Colorado Springs, CO/Colorado Springs Christian) had a team-high eight kills in the match, while sophomores Maria Mezzadri (Livonia, MI/Livonia Stevenson) and Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield), as well as junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers), had six kills on the afternoon. Freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 28 assists, while senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) led the Bulls with 12 digs. Schlegel also recorded all four of UB’s service aces, including scoring aces on the first two points of the match.
Kent State was led by 16 kills from Anja Knabe-Paulsen and 11 kills from Ashley Feutz. Katie Veatch had a match-high 31 assists. Laura Jensen had 16 digs for the Golden Flashes. The Bulls continue conference play on Thursday, Sep. 27 as they host Akron at 7:00 pm. That match will be televised by Time Warner 13 on tape delay with airings on Sep. 29 at 3:00 pm, Sep. 30 at 2:30 pm and Oct. 1 at 8:00 pm.
