Bulls Steal Five-Game Match From Canisius
Lindsay Matikosh records 21 kills and 25 digs to lead Buffalo to sixth win of the year
BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team won its second consecutive
five-game match in dramatic, come-from-behind fashion at Canisius College's Koessler Center tonight.
The Golden Griffins won the first two games, 30-24 and 32-30, before the Bulls came back to earn
the victory in their opening match of the Western New York Holiday Inn Volleyball Invitational.
Buffalo took a 30-28 decision in game three and a 30-17 decision in game four before winning the fifth and
final game by a 17-15 margin with the final point coming on a Canisius attacking error.
 | | Lindsay Matikosh | Junior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North
Tonawanda) led the Bulls with 21 kills and a career-high 25 digs, and sophomore
Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) recorded
career-highs of 19 kills and 22 digs. Freshman
Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne)
and junior Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion)
also posted double figures in kills with 12 and 11, respectively,
and Weekley also added a match-high nine blocks, including two solos. Freshman
Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt.
Lebanon) finished the match with 59 assists and 14 digs, and sophomore
Kathryn Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors)
contributed 17 digs.
The Bulls (6-6 overall) finish play in the Western New York Holiday Inn Volleyball
Invitational tomorrow when they host Youngstown State and Niagara at 11 am and 2 pm, respectively, at
Alumni Arena.
