HUNTINGTON, WV - The University at Buffalo volleyball team opened the Mid-American Conference portion of its 2001 schedule tonight in Huntington, WV, and the Bulls dropped a four-game match to the Marshall Thundering Herd by scores of 26-30, 30-18, 30-25 and 30-25. Sophomore Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) posted double figures in kills (10) for the second straight match, just one behind freshman Molly Schrantz's (Depew, NY/Lancaster) team-leading 11 kills on the night.

The Bulls (2-6 overall, 0-1 MAC) started the match strong, hitting .419 in the first game and earning a 30-26 win, but the Thundering Herd (3-5 overall, 1-0 MAC) rallied to victories in the next three games to finish the match. Senior setter Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) recorded 40 assists and a team-high 14 digs in the match, and freshman Katie Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) broke her career high with 12 digs, just two days after posting a previous career high of 11 digs at Syracuse on Wednesday night. Sophomore Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) added nine kills, five digs, two blocks and three service aces to the Bulls' effort.

Buffalo will play its second conference match of the year tomorrow night at Ohio at 7 pm.
