Volleyball Sweeps Niagara

Three players reach double digits in kills to lead Bulls to easy 3-0 win

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team improved to 5-5 overall on the season with a 3-0 sweep of local rival Niagara tonight at the Gallagher Center. Game scores were 30-22, 30-28 and 30-25.

Three players reached double figures in kills to lead the Bulls' offensive attack. Sophomore Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) had a team-high 13 kills while adding nine digs, and junior Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and freshman Tammy Julé (Regina Beach, Saskatchewan/Riffel) had 10 kills apiece. Weekley recorded a match-high six blocks, and Julé added seven digs. Junior setter Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) finished the match with 34 assists, six digs and four kills, and freshman libero Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) had a team-high 10 digs.

Niagara (1-6) was led by Erin Graham with a match-high 15 kills and Micole Daluisio with a match-high 13 digs.

The Bulls travel to Harrisonburg, VA this weekend to participate in the James Madison Tournament. Buffalo plays Campbell at 4:30 pm on Friday, September 17 and North Carolina A&T at 10 am and James Madison at 7 pm on Saturday, September 18.
