Volleyball Falls to Central Florida

Bulls to face Georgia Southern and Central Michigan in UCF Fall Invitational on Saturday

ORLANDO, FL - The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Golden Knights to open the UCF Fall Invitational tonight in Orlando, FL. Game scores were 30-28, 30-17, 28-30, 30-28. Sophomore Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) tied her career high with a match-high 10 blocks to lead the Bulls defensively, while junior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led Buffalo's offense with 16 kills.

In addition to Schrantz, seniors Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) and Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) each reached double figures in kills with 13 and 10, respectively, with Bouie adding five blocks and Matikosh adding four blocks. Freshman Lauren Burd (York, PA/Central York) finished the match with six blocks, and Schrantz also led the Bulls in digs with 13. Sophomore setter Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) recorded 44 assists and nine digs in the loss.

The Bulls (4-4 overall) will face Georgia Southern at 11 am and Mid-American Conference foe Central Michigan at 5 pm on Saturday, September 13 to conclude the UCF Fall Invitational.
