Bulls Fall To Host Panthers At Pitt Invitational

PITTSBURGH, PA – The University at Buffalo volleyball team was unable to defeat the host Pittsburgh Panthers in the final match of the Pittsburgh Invitational on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers won the match 3-0 at the Fitzgerald Field House.

Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) led the way for the Bulls with 12 kills and added seven digs and two block assists. Freshman Marisa Hornbaker (Colorado Springs, CO/Colorado Springs Christian) had eight kills, while Maria Mezzadri (Livonia, MI/Livonia Stevenson) added six kills. Freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 32 assists and a team-high four service aces for UB. Senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) finished with 10 digs and was named to the All-Tournament team following the match.

Pittsburgh was led by three players with double-digit kills, including 14 from Diana Andreyko. Emily Burke had 44 assists and Michelle Rossi had 14 digs.

The Bulls will continue their seven-match road swing on Tuesday evening as they travel to cross-town rival Canisius for a 7:00 pm match.
