Morzenti led the way with a match-high 20 kills, and Garcia had a match-high 28 digs, just two shy of her career high. In their final match of the tournament on Saturday night, the Bulls rolled to a 3-0 win over Colgate, 30-24, 30-22, 30-15. Mapé tied her career high with a match-high 16 kills, and senior Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted a double-double with 39 assists, 13 digs and four blocks.
Senior Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) was the Bulls' selection to the All-Tournament Team at the Western New York Invitational after averaging 2.91 kills per game while hitting a team-high .377 and adding 1.36 blocks per game in Buffalo's three matches. Weekley had 15 kills and a match-high seven blocks against Army, helping the Bulls to an exciting 3-2 win. Through the first five matches of the season, Weekley is averaging 2.61 kills and 1.33 blocks per game. Four Record Career Highs Against Army Five career highs were either set or tied by four players in the Bulls' 3-2 win over Army on Saturday afternoon. Junior Brandie Clark (Medicine Hat, Alberta/Medicine Hat) set career highs in both kills (13) and digs (18), while Mapé had a career-high 11 digs to go along with 12 kills for her first career double-double. Junior Lauren Burd (York, PA/Central York) contributed a career-high 12 kills, and Morzenti tied her career high with 17 digs.
Mapé entered the 2005 season having played in just 29 games and recording 23 kills in 75 attempts with seven digs in the first two seasons of her UB career. Through the first five matches in 2005, Mapé has already shattered those numbers. She currently has 66 kills (3.67 per game, first on the team) and 40 digs (2.22 per game, fourth on the team) in 18 games. She leads the Bulls with 10 service aces (0.56 per game) and 77.0 points (4.28 per game).
