Maryland Eastern Shore (0-2) opened the match with a kill by Yael Rozner, but the Bulls quickly took a 2-1 lead and never trailed game one after that. Mapé had six of her 14 kills in game one to lead the Bulls' attack.

A kill by Morzenti tied game two at 6-6, and the Bulls then built a five-point cushion at 11-6 thanks to four UMES attack errors and one UB block, by seniors Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne). Sophomore Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) rattled off three straight aces and Weekley had a kill for the final four points in the game to give the Bulls a commanding lead in the match.

Buffalo took control of game three early and led by as many as 13 points, 22-9. The Hawks threatened late with Maja Baltic serving five straight points to cut their deficit to 25-19, but the Bulls held tough and the match ended on two straight attack errors by UMES.

Mapé finished with a career-high nine digs to go along with her 14 kills, and Weekley had nine kills and three blocks. Morzenti finished with seven kills and the team-leading 13 digs, and Brown had 26 assists and five digs. The Bulls hit .221 as a team compared to Maryland Eastern Shore's -.009.

The Hawks were led by Adora Luster with seven kills, Leah Amundson with six kills and a match-high 14 digs and Likica Grceva with 13 digs.

The Bulls conclude the Western New York Invitational on Saturday with a 1 pm match against Army and a 7 pm match against Colgate, both at Alumni Arena.
