Bulls Fall Short Against Valparaiso
Valparaiso took the match 30-26, 30-19, 30-17 to improve to 2-1 on the season. UB and Valparaiso exchanged the lead for much of the first game before the Crusaders prevailed and never looked back in the match. Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) led the way for the Bulls with seven kills and added three block assists to help the Bulls finish with 5.5 blocks on the evening. Senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) had seven digs, while freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 19 assists and a team-high three service aces. Freshman Marisa Hornbaker (Colorado Springs, CO/Colorado Springs Christian) had a career-high 23 swings as she was one of four freshmen for UB in the starting lineup. Valparaiso was led by 13 kills from Angie Porche and 11 kills from Nicole Schulz. Sara Hughes had 25 assists as she split setting duties with Kim Bukowski, who recorded 18. Brittany Malicot had 15 digs for the Crusaders.
