Volleyball Wins Opening Match of UB Morgan ClassicBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo pulled out a four-game win over Stony Brook in its first match of the season at the UB Morgan Classic Invitational tonight, led by the play of sophomore Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) and freshman Katie Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors). The Bulls dropped a 30-24 decision in game one but rebounded to score 30-28, 30-24 and 30-28 wins in games two, three and four. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has adopted a rally scoring format for all matches this season with the first four games up to 30 and the fifth and deciding game up to 15.
In the first match of the UB Morgan Classic Invitational this evening, St. John's defeated Canisius, 30-20, 30-27, 30-26. The tournament continues on Saturday, September 1 with Canisius taking on Stony Brook at 11 am. The Bulls will then play St. John's at 1 pm, followed by St. John's against Stony Brook at 3 pm and Buffalo against Canisius at 5 pm. |
