Volleyball Announces 2006 Award Winners
Garcia had one of the top seasons in UB volleyball history as she set the school record for digs in a season with 545. Garcia also set the school record for digs in a three-game match as she had 32 against Kent State. The junior libero also finished tied for third on the team with 35 service aces.
Fensten finished as one of just three players to see action in all 117 games for the Bulls this past season. Her 222 digs were fifth on the squad, while she tied with Garcia for third on the squad in service aces with 35.
Love played in 25 games for UB, but it was her actions off the court that made her suitable for the award. Named the Top Newcomer last season by her teammates before she even stepped on the court, Love has always been consummate teammate. Recently, Love participated in an alternative spring Break, traveling to New Orleans to help rebuild the city following Hurricane Katrina.
Mezzadri did not see any action last season on the court, but was named Most Improved following her work ethic throughout the season and into the off-season. Mezzadri has been able to do all that while maintaining a 4.00 GPA.
