Bulls Compete At Mercyhurst Invitational
ERIE, PA – The University at Buffalo volleyball team began looking to the future this past weekend as it started its preparations for the 2008 season at the Mercyhurst Invitational. The Bulls played four matches this past Saturday at Mercyhurst using the 14 players from their 2007 roster that did not graduate.
Each match in this invitational was timed and the Bulls had good results, leading in three of the four matches as time expired. The Bulls opened the day by facing Gannon where they won, 25-20, 25-14, 15-4. Following that match the Bulls were then victorious over Tiffin, 22-25, 25-18, 15-9. The Bulls then trailed Slippery Rock as they won the first game 25-23, but then fell 23-25 and trailed 9-12 in game three as time expired. The Bulls finished the day playing host Mercyhurst where they won 25-22, 25-17, 12-15.
“I was happy with the way we played in our first spring event this past weekend,” said head coach Jim Lodes. “We were able to use a lot of different lineups and got everyone a lot of playing time. There are things that we still need to work on, but hopefully these spring matches will help us build confidence as we move closer to next season.”
The Bulls lost just two players following the conclusion of last year.
