Ladi Iya Selected To NCAA Women Coaches Academy
Academy will take place from May 29 to June 2 in Denver, CO
Ladi Iya | BUFFALO, NY – Assistant volleyball coach Ladi Iya has been selected to participate in the 2007 NCAA Women Coaches Academy. Created in 2002, The NCAA Women Coaches Academy provides skills training for coaches at all levels to assist them in being more efficient, productive, resourceful and successful. The academy is designed for women coaches who are ready and willing to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. The participants learn techniques that are not sport specific, yet ones that are relevant and necessary for coaching responsibilities, beyond the X’s and O’s.
The academy, which only has 25 positions available during each session, will be held at Inverness Conference Center in Denver, Colorado and will last from May 29 to June 2. The coaches will discuss philosophy and fundamentals, management skills, communication strategies and career development. In the end, the Women Coaches Academy has three objectives which consist of skills development, retention and mentoring, all for the advancement of the student athlete.
“This is an opportunity for me to learn valuable information that would be beneficial to our volleyball program,” said Iya. “I know that I will come out of this conference a better coach and hopefully I can impart some of the knowledge that I gain to our student athletes.”
Iya is in her third year as an assistant coach under third-year head coach Jim Lodes.
