BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head volleyball coach Sally Kus has announced the hiring of Erin Holahan as an assistant coach. Holahan comes to Buffalo following a successful playing and coaching career at Daemen College, an NAIA Division I institution, where she played under Kus for four years and served as an assistant coach in 2002.

As an assistant coach in 2002, Holahan helped the Lady Warriors to a 27-7 overall record, a 16-2 conference record and the American Mideast Conference North Division title. Daemen was ranked second in the region and as high as 30th in the nation during the regular season. She coached four All-Conference selections and one All-Region selection while being primarily responsible for planning practices, working with the setters, recruiting and fundraising.

Holahan was a four-year starter for the Lady Warriors and finished her career as Daemen's career leader in assists (5,088), assists per game (10.45) and service aces (246). She was a four-time All-Conference selection, a three-year team captain and team Most Valuable Player as a senior. In 2002, Holahan was inducted into Daemen's Wall of Fame along with teammate Katie Schrantz, sister of current UB volleyball team member Molly Schrantz, and the two of them were the first volleyball players ever to be inducted into the Wall of Fame. Holahan helped Daemen to a 92-54 record during her playing career, and she led the American Mideast Conference in assists per game (12.38) and service aces per game (0.79) during her senior season.

Holahan was also a four-time All-Western New York selection in volleyball while playing at Royalton-Hartland High School, and she played in the Cheetah Volleyball Club program for seven years. She holds a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Daemen, and she is currently pursuing a transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy.

"Erin comes to UB with experience beyond her years," said Kus. "Her primary responsibilities will include setter development, defensive training and recruiting. We welcome the loyalty and commitment Erin will bring to our growing program."

Holahan replaces Randy Syracuse, who served as an assistant coach on Kus' staff during the 2002 season.
