Lizaiha Garcia Selected in LVSF Draft
In her four seasons at UB, Garcia played in 448 games. She currently holds the school records for career total digs (1884), career digs per game (4.278), single season digs (545), and single season digs per game (4.658). She also is currently ranked 5th in the LVSF league for liberos. She is the first player in UB volleyball history to go on and play at the professional level. “Lizaiha is the consummate athlete,” said Buffalo head coach Jim Lodes. “She always strives to be her best. Lizaiha is always pursuing perfection on the court. It is great to watch her compete because you can’t tell if she is winning or losing; if it is early in a match or late; or if it is the first rep or last rep of a workout. Lizaiha always goes as hard as she can. I feel that is the main reason Lizaiha has earned the respect of her teammates and coaches. It is not a surprise or accident that she is able to compete at the professional level.” The LVSF regular season began play January 26th and will run through March. The league is currently in its 40th year of operation and each team represents the city or municipality in which they play.
