Women's Volleyball News - 9/29

The Bulls captured their fourth straight victory on Saturday (9/27/97) as they defeated Cornell University in three games, 15-7, 15-10, 15-6 at Alumni Arena. Junior outside hitter Amy Burda (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) led the way for the Bulls with seven digs and thirteen kills for a .318 hitting percentage. Also, sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Newfield) and senior middle hitter Nancy Rose (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) made sound contributions with ten and 13 kills, respectively.

The Bulls also defeated St. Bonaventure earlier in the week in three straight games, 15-8, 15-3, 15-7 at Lockport High School (Lockport, NY). Three UB players, Somer Deschambault (Medland, ONT/St. Theresa's), sophomore Christina Gianino (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow East) and Burda contributed four aces a piece in the match.

The Bulls improved their record to 7-11 on the season and will return to action this coming Wednesday (10/1) at Niagara University (Niagara Falls, NY) at 7:00pm. In its next home matches Buffalo will host the Mid-Continent Conference Cluster (10/10-12) at Alumni Arena. Valparaiso, Central Connecticut and Youngstown State will participate in the tourney.
