Bulls Finish Play at Princeton Tournament Women's tennis team drops all three matches on Sunday
PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Invitational came to a conclusion on Sunday as the University at Buffalo women's tennis team competed in three matches. The Bulls fell in their two singles matches in straight sets and their doubles team lost its match. A total of seven matches, four singles and three doubles contests, were held on Sunday. In singles play, UB's Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorghe, Romania/Economic) was defeated by Princeton's Rachel Saiontz in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Aleksandra Petrova (Sofia, Bulgaria/Logos International) was also in action for the Bulls, dropping a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Princeton's Melissa Saiontz. The UB doubles tandem of Janelle Jones-Mitchell (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) and Sofya Ivanyuk fell to the Princeton duo of Kristen Scott and Kelly Stewart by an 8-3 margin. The Bulls return to action in two weeks when they participate at the Army Invitational starting on September 26.
