Bulls Name Student Athletes of the Year Jamey Richard and Andreea Novaceanu honored
Richard, the anchor of the Bulls’ offensive line, was an honorable mention All-American by Pro Football Weekly and a second-team and academic All-MAC selection. He helped pave the way for an offense that scored a Division I-A-record 291 points, produced the Bulls’ first 1,000-yard rusher in the Division I-A era (James Starks) and protected a quarterback that completed a school-record 258 passes (Drew Willy). In April he was a seventh-round draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts and recently signed a four-year contract with the team.
Novaceanu was named to the All-MAC First Team for the third time in four seasons this past year as she finished with a 20-11 mark in singles play. Novaceanu finished her brilliant four-year career with an 83-28 overall record in singles, which makes her the winningest singles player in UB women’s tennis history. Her 83 wins also tie her with Mike Rockman for the most singles victories in UB tennis history, men or women.
