BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as one of its All-Academic Teams and three individuals were also recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes. In order for an institution to be named an All-Academic Team, it must have a combined grade point average of at least 3.20.

Individually the Bulls had three players named ITA Scholar Athletes, led by first-team All-MAC selection Denise Harijanto. Harijanto, who has a 3.699 GPA in management, led the Bulls in both singles and doubles victories and has now been on the All-MAC Team in each of her three seasons at UB. She was also named to the Academic All-MAC team for the second straight season. Harijanto is currently regionally ranked by the ITA in both singles and doubles action.

Aleksandra Petrova, a management major with a 3.763 GPA, was also recognized by the ITA following her first full season in the UB lineup. Petrova spent most of the year for UB at fifth singles and was also a mainstay in the doubles lineup seeing some action at first doubles, but most of her action was at second or third doubles.

The Bulls return all but one player from a season ago where they reached the MAC Tournament Semifinals and finished the season with a 14-6 record.
