Women’s Tennis Named ITA Academic Award Winner Three individuals also named ITA Scholar Athletes
Individually the Bulls had three players named ITA Scholar Athletes, led by first-team All-MAC selection Denise Harijanto. Harijanto, who has a 3.699 GPA in management, led the Bulls in both singles and doubles victories and has now been on the All-MAC Team in each of her three seasons at UB. She was also named to the Academic All-MAC team for the second straight season. Harijanto is currently regionally ranked by the ITA in both singles and doubles action.
Aleksandra Petrova, a management major with a 3.763 GPA, was also recognized by the ITA following her first full season in the UB lineup. Petrova spent most of the year for UB at fifth singles and was also a mainstay in the doubles lineup seeing some action at first doubles, but most of her action was at second or third doubles.
Also named an ITA Scholar Athlete was Sonya Ivanyuk, who has a 3.587 GPA and is currently an undeclared major. Ivanyuk saw most of her action in UB’s fall season where she picked up her first collegiate victory in singles action. The Bulls return all but one player from a season ago where they reached the MAC Tournament Semifinals and finished the season with a 14-6 record.
