Women's Tennis Drops Final Match To Toledo, 7-0

Bulls Finish Regular Season and Now Prepare For Mid-American Conference Tournament

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped its final regular-season competition to the Toledo Rockets, 7-0, Saturday at the Village Glen Tennis Center.

UB finished the regular season 3-15 overall and 1-8 in Mid-American Conference matches.

Sophomore Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) and junior Shani Amarasinghe (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) were defeated 8-1 by the Rockets' Marivi Cuartin and Marie Craig.

Freshman Lisa Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) and junior Anne Schule (Snyder, NY/Amherst) dropped their second-doubles match to Natalya Natyshak and Whitney Wasielewski, 8-1.

At third doubles, juniors Kendra Pyke (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and Jennifer Wong (Penfield, NY/Penfield) picked up an 8-6 victory over Anne Tabernik and Eva Szuch.

The Bulls were swept in all six singles matches however.

At first singles, Maynard, fell to Wasielewski, 6-3, 6-2, while Amarasinghe dropped her second-singles match, 6-0, 6-1 to Natyshak.

At third singles, Schule was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Cuartin. Craig defeated Wong at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Pyke dropped her fifth-singles match, 6-3, 7-5 to Szuch and at sixth singles, Partelow notched a 6-3, 7-5 loss against Tabernik.

UB's regular season is now over and the Bulls will compete this week in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
