UB Women's Tennis Drops Home Match To EMU, 7-0BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team fell to the Eastern Michigan Eagles today 7-0, at the UB Tennis Center, Ellicott Complex. UB is now 3-14 overall and 1-7 in Mid-American Conference matches. "Eastern Michigan is a very good team," said head coach Kathy Twist. "We wanted to concentrate on staying in the points as long as possible. This match was a warmup for us for the Toledo match tomorrow." Sophomore Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) and junior Shani Amarasinghe (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) were defeated 8-1 by the Eagles' Simone Duhme and Shari Gamarnik. Freshman Lisa Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) and junior Anne Schule (Snyder, NY/Amherst) dropped their second-doubles match to EMU, 8-1. At third doubles, juniors Kendra Pyke (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and Jennifer Wong (Penfield, NY/Penfield) also dropped their doubles match, 8-1. The Eagles posted wins at all singles matches. UB's next and final competition is at home at the UB Tennis Center on Saturday, April 21, against MAC-rival Toledo. |
