Bulls netters fall to Akron

The Bulls dropped a Mid-American Conference match Saturday at Akron, 7-0. The Bulls are now 5-13 overall and 0-7 in the MAC. Fifth singles player Anne Schule (Snyder, NY/Amherst) lost a three-set match to Marti Conner winning the first set 6-3 but dropping the next two 7-5, 6-2. First singles player Michelle Mercer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was defeated by Anniken Andersen 6-4, 6-1. In the doubles competition, the number one team of Nicole Sargent (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Speckenkill) lost a heartbreaking 9-8 decision to Anniken Andersen and Arianna Rojas-Serpa. The pro set match went to a 17th game tie breaker won by the Zips 7-4.

UB's non-conference match at Cleveland State was canceled due to the weather conditions.
