Women's Tennis Weekly Release - April 17, 2000The Bulls dropped a Mid-American Conference match Saturday at Akron, 7-0. The Bulls are now 5-13 overall and 0-7 in the MAC. Fifth singles player Anne Schule (Snyder, NY/Amherst) lost a three-set match to Marti Conner winning the first set 6-3 but dropping the next two 7-5, 6-2. First singles player Michelle Mercer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was defeated by Anniken Andersen 6-4, 6-1. In the doubles competition, the number one team of Nicole Sargent (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Speckenkill) lost a heartbreaking 9-8 decision to Anniken Andersen and Arianna Rojas-Serpa. The pro set match went to a 17th game tie breaker won by the Zips 7-4. UB's non-conference match at Cleveland State was canceled due to the weather conditions. Coach Kathy Twist's squad completes the regular season this weekend with home
conference matches with Northern Illinois on Friday and MAC powerhouse Western Michigan on
Saturday. Both matches begin at 1:00 p.m. |
