Bulls Defeated by Rockets

Women's Tennis Loses to Toledo, 7-0

TOLEDO, OH - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team lost a Mid-American Conference match with a 7-0 loss to the University of Toledo on Friday.

At first singles, junior Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) fell to Viviana Rivero, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Michaela Kollarova (Slovak Republic/Bratislava) fell at second singles to Monica Ribero, 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, senior Shani Amarasinghe (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) fell to Whitney Wasielewski, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Jennifer Wong (Penfield, NY/Penfield) fell to Natalya Natyshak at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3. Erica Zielinski (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) fell at fifth singles to Marivi Cuartin, 6-0, 6-0. At sixth singles, senior Meaghan Partelow (Lyons, NY/Lyons) was defeated by Eva Szuch, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles competition, Maynard and Kollarova fell to Ribero and Rivero at number one, 8-1. At second doubles, Amarasinghe and Wong fell to Wasielewski and Natyshak, 8-0. At third doubles, Partelow and Zielinski were defeated by Szuch and Cuartin, 8-3.

The Bulls are next in action against Bowling Green State University on Friday, April 19 at 1 pm at the UB Tennis Complex.
