The Bulls did play their opponents tough but were unable to take any of the matches. Eastern Michigan won the doubles point by sweeping past the Bulls in all three contests. UB's number one team of Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) and Kristen Ortman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) dropped an 8-3 decision to Kendra Clark and Ying Kansuthi. At number two, the UB team of Michelle Kollarova (Bratislava, Slovak Republic/Sport Gymnasium) and Erica Zielinski (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) fell to Rebecca Hawkins and Amalia Lincaru. At number three, UB's Lisa Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) and Sheri Ugowski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) were defeated by Julie-Anne Ryan and Lisa D'Amelio, 8-1.

UB also dropped all six singles matches in straight sets, but not without putting up a strong fight in several of the contests. Maynard was defeated at number one by Hawkins, 6-1, 6-0. Ortman dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Kansuthi at number two. At number three, Kollarova, after falling in the first set to Clark, 6-0, kept the second set tight, but was defeated 7-5. Zielinski fell to Ryan, 6-0, 6-0, at number four. Wittman, at number five, lost to Shari Gamarnik, 6-1, 6-3. UB's Wendy Rose (Eden, NY/Eden) was defeated in the number six match by EMU's Marijana Adzic, 6-1, 6-1.

The Bulls look to get back into the win column with the home finale against Toledo on Saturday. The match, to be played at the Village Glen Tennis Center, will begin at 1 pm.
