BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo (7-4, 3-3 MAC) women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to league-leading Western Michigan (14-5, 5-0) on Saturday in Mid-American Conference action. The match, UB's final home appearance of the season, was played outdoors at the University Tennis Club on the North Campus.

UB's lone win came from second singles player Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) as she rallied to defeat Malena Remynse in a super-tiebreaker. Nenova opened with a 7-6 loss in the first set, dropping the tiebreaker, 7-5. She then returned to claim a 6-4 win in the second set to force the super-tiebreaker, closing with a 10-6 win in the extra session. It was the second super-tiebreaker victory for Nenova in as many days as she downed Northern Illinois' Ivonne Andrade in the same fashion on Friday.

The remainder of the Bulls' lineup was swept in straight seats by the Broncos, ranked 51st in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. At number one, UB's Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) fell to Rattiya Hiranrat, 6-4, 6-4. At numer three, Kristen Ortman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) was defeated by Carrie Jeanmaire, 6-0, 6-3. UB's Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg) fell to Reedhina Parekh, at number four, 6-0, 6-2. At number five, Sabrina Carmona (Sao Paulo, Brazil/MMDC) lost to Pryanka Parekh, 6-2, 6-0. In the number six match, Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) fell to Noriko Saruta, 6-0, 6-2. The teams also played an exhibition match as UB's Onessa Williams (Albany, NY/Albany) lost to Colleen Mead, 6-1, 6-0.

Western Michigan also swept the doubles competition, winning all three matches as well as an exhibition match. Novaceanu and Ortman, playing first doubles, put up the strongest fight, but fell to Maelynn Bernosky and Remynse, 8-6. Nenova and Jacob, at second doubles, fell to Hiranrat and Saruta, 8-3, while Fischer and Carmona were defeated at the third spot by Jeanmaire and Reedhina Parekh, 8-1. UB's Jamie Jackson (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) and Williams lost their exhibition match to Mead and Pryanka Parekh by an 8-1 margin.

The Bulls hit the road for the final three matches of the regular season. UB faces 70th-ranked Marshall in Huntington, WV on Friday, then travels to Miami (OH) on Saturday to face the RedHawks. The regular season concludes with an April 22nd matchup at Akron.
