WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team got back into the win column on Friday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of Mid-American Conference foe Akron at the Village Glen Tennis Center. The Bulls are now 12-2 overall and 4-1 in league action while the Zips fall to 9-9 overall and remain winless in the MAC at 0-5.

The Bulls got things rolling with three doubles wins, including a pair of shutouts, to clinch the opening point. UB's number one tandem of Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and Denise Harijanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) blanked Tanya Gombera and Amy Sherlock, 8-0. The number three team of Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) and Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg) also scored an 8-0 win over Alyssa Carlson and Aude Percherin.

Buffalo rolled to the victory taking all six singles matches without dropping a set or being forced into a tiebreaker. Highlighting the run was Fischer, who scored the clinching victory in the number six match with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Laura Hemlepp. Harijanto, at number two, and Natalie Dean (Feilding, New Zealand/Palmerston North), at number four, each allowed just two games against them in their wins.

The Bulls hit the road for next weekend's MAC matchups. They travel to Toledo, currently tied for the lead in the conference, on Friday, April 13 and face Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 14. Both matches are slated for 1:00 pm starts.
