Bulls Dominate Ball State UB claims the doubles point and wins in five singles matches
The Bulls took the doubles point as they claimed victories at first and third doubles. UB’s number one team of Denise Harijanto and Diana Popescu defeated Georgina Thomson and Dena Boulieris, 8-2 to extend their winning streak to eight. At third singles, the duo of Anna Subenkova and Aleksandra Petrova defeated Rachel Surowiec and Hanna Oman, 8-3.
In singles play, UB won five of the six matches as all of the matches ended in straight sets. Harijanto shut out her opponent at first singles as she defeated Sarah Hebble, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Smaranda Stan also made short work of her opponent at she defeated Kylee Johnson, 6-0, 6-1. At second singles, Popescu defeated Boulieris, 6-3, 6-1, while Petrova picked up a straight sets victory at fifth singles over Thomson, 6-2, 6-1. Also victorious was junior Diana Toia who defeated Hayley Hall at fourth singles. Toia won the first set 6-4 before Hall retired in the second set with Toia up 3-2. The Bulls wrap up the regular season with three straight home matches. The Bulls begin that with a rematch of last year’s MAC Championship as the Bulls host Western Michigan on Friday at 1:00 pm.
