BUFFALO, NY – For the second time this season and the third time in her career, University at Buffalo senior Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) has been named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The award was announced at the MAC's headquarters in Cleveland this morning.

Nenova went a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles play as the Bulls opened the Mid-American Conference schedule with a pair of road victories last week defeating Ball State and Miami (OH). Nenova moved back into the number one singles spot after playing at number two for the last seven matches and scored singles wins over Ball State’s Sophie Quist and Miami’s Katrina Lomidze.

She also paired with senior Natalie Dean (Feilding, New Zealand/Palmerston North) to post two doubles victories over the weekend. The tandem, playing in the number two slot, scored an 8-4 win over Ball State's Jennifer Pollack and Christine Stromberg on Friday and downed Miami's Leda Pesatova and Victoria Pulido, 8-2, on Saturday, to clinch the opening point in both contests.

For the season, Nenova is 14-3 in singles play and 18-5 in doubles. She became UB's all-time singles victories leader earlier this season and now has 64. She is also the Bulls' all-time doubles victories leader with 69 triumphs in her four-year career.

The Bulls, currently 10-1 overall and 2-0 in MAC play, are riding a four-match winning streak. The Bulls host league rival Bowling Green on Friday and last season's conference champion, Western Michigan, on Saturday. Both contests are scheduled at 1:00 pm and will be held at the University Tennis Center on the UB campus. If rain forces the matches indoors, they will be held at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Williamsville.
