Women's Tennis Falls to MarshallHUNTINGTON, WV - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Marshall University in Mid-American Conference action on Friday afternoon. The loss pushed UB's record to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Bulls dropped the three doubles matches to open play. The number three team of Kendra Pyke (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and Anne Schule (Amherst, NY/Amherst) fell 8-2 to Ashely Kroh and Olivia Hill. UB's top two squads both lost by idenitcal 8-0 counts. At number one, Karen Maynard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) and Shani Amarasinghe (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) were defeated by Anna Mitina and Alice Sukner. Jennifer Wong (Penfield, NY/Penfield) and Michaela Kollarova (Bratislava, Slovak Republic/Sport Gymnasium) were defeated by Danielle Hock and Joelle Good at second doubles. In the singles competition, the Bulls were swept in straight sets. Maynard was defeated
by Mitina, 6-1, 6-0 at number one. Kollarova fell 6-1, 6-0 to Sukner at number two while Wong fell 6-1,
6-1 to Lille Nzudi at number six. |
