pick up a pair of wins

PROVIDENCE, RI – The University at Buffalo women’s
tennis team finished non-conference play with a 5-2 loss to
nationally-ranked Brown on Sunday morning as the Bulls picked up a pair
of victories in singles play. UB will enter MAC action next week with a
4-4 record.
Brown took the doubles points as it claimed victories at both second
and third doubles. The Bulls did pick up a win at first doubles as
UB’s regionally-ranked team of Denise
Harijanto and Aleksandra
Petrova defeated Bianca Aboubakare and Casey Herzberg, who was
ranked third in the region and 71st in the nation, 8-5.

Harijanto and Petrova also picked up wins for UB in singles play,
both doing so in straight sets. Harijanto defeated Herzberg at first
singles, 6-1, 6-4. Herberg entered today’s match seventh in the
region in singles. Petrova defeated Misia Krasowski, 7-6 (2), 6-3 at
third singles for UB’s second point of the afternoon. Brown took
the other four matches in straight sets.
The Bulls begin conference play this upcoming weekend as they head
to Akron for a meeting with the Zips. Akron was picked first in the MAC
in the preseason poll. The match is set for 1:00 pm.
