Bulls Sweep Eastern Michigan, 7-0 UB has now won seven in a row
The Bulls took all three doubles matches led by the play of Denise Harijanto and Diana Popescu at first singles. The regionally-ranked squad defeated Miriam Westerink and Joanna Woon 8-2. Clinching the doubles point for the Bulls was the number three squad of Smaranda Stan and Anna Subenkova who defeated Marcela Rivero and Rumbidzai Muskwe, 8-4. Completing the sweep at second doubles was Aleksandra Petrova and Diana Toia defeated Karina Ahuja and Xu Chang, 8-4.
The Bulls were equally as dominant in singles play, winning all six matches, including five in straight sets. Subenkova picked up the first win at sixth singles as she defeated Muskwe, 6-1, 6-4. Petrova picked up the next victory at fifth singles as she defeated Rivero, 6-2, 6-2. Toia would clinch the match for the Bulls at fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Woo. At third singles, Stan went three sets with her opponent coming back to claim victory after dropping the first set. The senior ended up defeating Chang, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. Popescu and Harijanto would also sweep their opponents at second and first singles, respectively. Popescu defeated Ahuja, 6-4, 7-6, while Harijanto defeated Westerink, 6-4, 7-6. UB remains on the road tomorrow when they head to Toledo, OH to face the Rockets. Buffalo 7, Eastern Michigan 0
