BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's tennis player Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) was named the Mid-American Conference's Player of the Week as announced by the league office in Cleveland.

Novaceanu, a freshman, led the Bulls to an 8-1 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday with victories in both her singles and doubles matches. Novaceanu defeated Charity Siegmund, 6-1, 6-1 at second singles to improve her record to 14-1 this season and 4-0 in dual play. She also paired with freshman Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) at first doubles to down Siegmund and Natalie Paparella, 9-7. Novaceanu and Jacob are 7-1 this season as UB's top doubles team.
