ORLANDO, FL – The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over regional rival Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon at Orlando’s Sanlando Courts. The Bulls are now 8-1 overall with a pair of wins in the Sunshine State and are riding a five-match winning streak.

The Bulls opened with three victories in the doubles matches, including a pair of 8-0 shutouts. At number one, UB’s Kristen Ortman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Natalie Dean (Feilding, New Zealand/Palmerston North) defeated Jennifer Fowler and Casey Conklin, 8-3. At number two, UB’s Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) blanked Lindsey Keeler and Patrice Reiley, 8-0, while the number three duo of Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) and Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorghe, Romania/Economic) scored an identical 8-0 win over Lindsay Spagnola and Men Nguyen.

The Jaspers were no match for UB in the singles matches as the Bulls won all six in straight sets with just one player, Nenova at number one, forced into a tiebreaker. Nenova defeated Fowler in the second-set tiebreaker, 7-3, to claim a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win. At number two, Ortman downed Keeler, 6-2, 6-4.

The remainder of the matches saw the Bulls allow just two games to the Jaspers with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 "double bagel" victories in the bottom two matches. Novaceanu knocked off Conklin, 6-1, 6-0, to claim the number three match. At number four, Dean breezed past Reiley by an identical 6-1, 6-0 score. After shutout doubles victories, Stan and Jacob stayed perfect on the day with 6-0, 6-0 singles wins. Stan downed Nguyen at number five while Jacob defeated Spagnola at six.

The Bulls face their toughest test of their three-match Florida trip on Friday as they will face Conference USA member UCF in Orlando for an 11:00 am meeting.
