JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team scored a 9-0 victory over Florida Community College at Jacksonville on Wednesday to complete their two-match spring break trip to Florida. The Bulls improve to 8-1 with the win in which they allowed just three singles games to be scored against them with seven of the wins coming via shutout.

The Bulls swept the doubles with all three matches decided by 8-0 scores. UB three doubles squads consisted of Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) and Natalie Dean (Feilding, New Zealand/Palmerston North) at number one, Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) and Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorghe, Romania/Economic) at number two, and Denise Harijanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) and Andreea Novacenau (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) at number three.

In singles play, Nenova, at number two, Stan, at number four, Jacob, at number five, and Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg), at number six, all scored "double-bagel", 6-0, 6-0 victories over their opponents. The only blemishes to UB's perfect day were two first-set games won by Shari Dillet against Harijanto at number one and single game in the second set by Shayna Pierce against Novaceanu, at number three. Novaceanu was playing in her first singles match of the spring season after missing much of the time with an injury.

The Bulls return north to begin Mid-American Conference play next weekend. They travel to Ball State on March 23 and Miami (OH) on March 24 to open the conference slate.
