HAMILTON, NY – University at Buffalo senior Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) netted her 60th career victory to become the school’s all-time leader in singles wins as the Bulls defeated Colgate, 7-0, on Friday afternoon. The Bulls remain undefeated at 6-0 while Colgate drops to 4-2.

Nenova, playing second singles, defeated Colgate’s Elise Derose, 6-1, 6-1, to reach the 60-win plateau and pass current UB assistant coach Kristen Ortman for first place on the Bulls’ all-time list. Nenova remains undefeated in dual-meet play this year at 6-0 and is 10-2 overall in the 2006-07 season.

Nenova also paired with Denise Harijanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) to form UB’s number one doubles team as they downed Jackie Couture and Derose, 8-3. Nenova and Harijanto are now 14-4 in doubles and 6-0 in dual-meet play.

Junior Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorghe, Romania/Economic) won her ninth consecutive singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Erin Fenn at number three. Stan leads the team with a 15-1 singles mark.

Also picking up singles wins for the Bulls were Harijanto at number one, Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) at number four, Diana Toia (Rochester, NY/Brighton) at number five and Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg) at number six.

The Bulls continue their Central New York road trip with a match in Ithaca on Saturday against Cornell. Match time is 2:00 pm.
