Bulls Roll Past Bonnies

The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team picked up its third dual match win of the season this past Friday as it defeated St. Bonaventure, 7-0. The Bulls took all three doubles matches and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Harijanto Sweeps Through Matches...

Sophomore Denise Harijanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) had a perfect match against St. Bonaventure, teaming up with Diana Popescu (Alexandria, Romania/AL. I. Cuza) to win the doubles point 8-0 and then in singles play, Harijanto defeated Anna Pervenzetseva, 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles. On the season, Harijanto has a 13-5 singles record and a 9-3 mark in doubles play.

...Rest Of Team Just As Sharp

The entire UB squad put forth outstanding results against the Bonnies as UB also won its number two and three doubles matches, 8-4 and 8-2. UB’s senior duo of Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) teamed up at number two, while at number three was Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorghe, Romania/Economic) and Diana Toia (Rochester, NY/Brighton). In singles play, Novaceanu took her match at number one, 6-2, 6-0, while Popescu took hers at number three, 6-4, 6-3. Stan took the fourth singles match, 6-0, 6-2 and Jacob was a winner at number five, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Anna Subenkova (Riga, Latvia) then made her UB singles debut and won at sixth singles, 6-4, 6-1.

Up Next

The Bulls will be back in action next weekend as they head to West Point, NY for a pair of matches. UB will meet Temple on Saturday at 4:00 pm and then Army on Sunday at 9:00 am.
