Bulls Defeat Cornell, 4-3 The University at Buffalo women’s tennis team got back in the winning column on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Cornell, 4-3, Saturday afternoon. UB picked up singles and doubles wins from three different players. First Doubles Continues To Impress
In doubles action UB’s first doubles team of Denise Harijanto and Diana Popescu remained perfect this spring with an 8-6 victory against Cornell’s Stephanie Kent and Natalia Sanchez. The Bulls would end up claiming the ever important doubles point as UB’s third doubles team of Aleksandra Petrova and Diana Toia defeated Catherine Duboc and Leah Seyburn, 9-7. Three Players Pick Up Singles Victories In singles action, the two teams split the six singles matches as UB claimed victories at first, second and fifth singles. In first singles, Harijanto defeated Sanchez in straight sets, 6-4,6-2. Popescu took her match quickly as her opponent was forced to retire with Popescu up 4-1 in the first set. Petrova picked up her victory in straight sets as well as she defeated Duboc, 6-3, 6-1. Bulls Head To Steel City
The Bulls head to Pittsburgh, PA this weekend for a pair of matches. The Bulls will face Duquesne on Friday before facing the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday.
