UB women's swimmers complete second day of competition at meet
FAIRFAX, VA - The University at Buffalo women's swim team moved from fifth place to
fourth Saturday evening as the second day of the Patriot Invitational came to an end.
The Bulls currently have 236 points as they head into tomorrow's final day of
competition, trailing first place Washington State (663), Mid-American Conference rival Ohio (433) and
Boston College (322) in the 13-team event.
UB freshman Jolie Pun (Fonthill, Ontario/E.L. Crossley)
was the Bulls' top performer on Saturday night placing fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.61. Ohio's Kim Van Selm, the 2000
MAC Swimmer of the Year, took the event in 1:52.49.
Abby Delia (Oswego,
NY/Oswego) reached the finals in a pair of events Saturday. The
sophomore finished seventh in the 100 backstroke in 59.43 and eighth in the 100 butterfly in 59.36 to earn
23 individual points for the Bulls.
The 800 freestyle relay squad of Dawn Hickey (Brockport, NY/Brockport), Heather
Rochette (Baie d'Urfe, Quebec/Queen of Angels Academy), Katrina Sinclair (Lakeport,
CA/Ukiah) and Jeni Broderick (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East)
finished sixth in 7:57.46.
