BUFFALO, NY – It was announced on Friday that Dorsi Raynolds has resigned her position as the head swimming and diving coach at the University at Buffalo. After 13 seasons, Raynolds is leaving UB to pursue other opportunities while finishing her doctorate in sports psychology.

"Dorsi's enthusiasm for not only swimming, but the entire Division of Athletics will be greatly missed," Officer in Charge of Athletics Laura Barnum said. "She was an inspirational leader for her team and the entire department. We wish Dorsi much success in her future endeavors and thank her for her numerous contributions to the University."

Raynolds finished her career at UB as the school's all-time winningest women's swim coach with 67 dual meet victories. Over her career, she has placed 70 swimmers on all-conference teams, including, most recently, two-time Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year Jennefer Brankovsky.

Prior to joining the MAC, Raynolds led the Bulls to five straight conference championships - first in the East Coast Conference in 1994, followed by four straight in the Mid-Continent Conference. She was named the Mid-Continent Coach of the Year in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Out of the water, Raynolds helped her Bulls become one of the top UB teams academically and also one of the top academic teams in the country.

Current assistant coach Scott Vanderzell will serve as the interim head coach of the women’s swimming and diving program. UB will conduct a national search for a new head coach at the conclusion of the 2006 season.
