Brankovsky Named to Academic All-District I At-Large Second Team
Brankovsky closed out her successful four-year career by winning three individual titles (200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard individual medley, 400-yard individual medley) at the 2005 Mid-American Conference Championships en route to being named MAC Swimmer of the Year and MAC Senior Swimmer of the Year. Brankovsky earned first-team All-MAC honors and was team Most Valuable Player all four years of her career, and she was also the MAC's Swimmer of the Year as a sophomore in 2002-03. She won six MAC titles during her career, and she leaves UB with eight individual and three relay school records in her name. Brankovsky is a biomedical sciences major with a 3.578 grade point average. She received the prestigious Clifford C. Furnas Award, recognizing outstanding undergraduate performance in scholarship and athletic prowess, at UB's annual athletics awards banquet in May. She was also a three-time selection to the Academic All-MAC women's swimming and diving team. Brankovsky is the fourth UB student-athlete to earn Academic All-District I honors in 2004-05.
Junior defensive linemen Bill Meholif (Parma, OH/St. Ignatius)
and Aaron Sanders (Clarence, NY/St.
Joseph's) were both chosen to the football Academic All-District I First Team, and senior
Turner Battle (Kernersville, NC/East
Forsyth) was named to the men's basketball Academic All-District I First
Team before going on to earn Academic All-America Second Team honors. |
