Jolie Pun Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
BUFFALO, NY - Jolie Pun (Fonthill, Ontario/E.L. Crossley) of the University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team was named to the 2003-04 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Women's At-Large First Team. She will now be placed on the national ballot for a chance at garnering Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on June 17. Pun, a senior chemistry major with a 3.97 GPA and a team captain, swam the second leg of UB's record-setting 800 freestyle relay at the Mid-American Conference Championships. The foursome of Pun, Jennefer Brankovsky (Toronto, Ontario/Don Mills CI), Kahla Walkinshaw (Hamilton, Ontario/Westmount SS) and Frances Stephenson (Toronto, Ontario/W.L. Mackenzie CI) broke the school record while placing third in the finals with a 7:33.00 clocking. The foursome broke the record set at last season's MAC Championships, that also included Brankovsky and Pun on the first two legs, by six seconds. Individually, Pun finished 13th in the 200 freestyle in a season-best 1:53.87 and 16th in the 1,650 freestyle in 17:25.51 at the conference meet. Pun is one of four UB student-athletes to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District I honors this year.
