BUFFALO, NY – The 2008 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships concluded Satruday night with Ohio University claiming its first title since 2001 and two University at Buffalo athletes earning all-league honors.

Ohio scored a total of 679.5 points to take the title, their 10th overall and first since 2001, the last time that UB hosted the conference meet. Following the Bobcats were Toledo (605.5), Eastern Michigan (575), Miami (538), UB (341), Bowling Green (333.5), Akron (246) and Ball State (175.5).

Madeleine Pilchard of Eastern Michigan was named the Swimmer of the Year and Senior Swimmer of the Year. On Saturday, she won her third MAC title of the weekend with a MAC, MAC meet and UB pool record time of 49.02 in the 100-yard freestyle. The time, an automatic NCAA qualifying mark, bettered her record-setting performance in the heats of 49.42. Pilchard also anchored EMU's 400-yard freestyle relay team to league and meet records in 3:20.43.

Toledo's Meg Reissig also won her third event of the meet on Saturday with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke. Reissig set MAC, MAC meet and UB pool records to win in 1:58.16. UB's Andrea Lehner (Lockport, NY/Orchard Park) finished third in the final in 2:00.92. Lehner broke her own UB school record in the morning preliminaries with a clocking of 2:00.60.
